I recently updated my computer from Windows 11 to version 26H2, and it started behaving strangely afterward. Restarting took unusually long, and several applications became sluggish once the system came back up. Chrome takes longer to load webpages, YouTube videos buffer or start slowly, and the Windows Update settings page reports an error. What troubleshooting steps should I try?
My system has an AMD Ryzen 5 5600 processor, a Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600 graphics card, 64 GB of RAM, and Windows 11. I have already updated my drivers and firmware, but I can double-check that everything is current.

Since this was an update from one Windows 11 release to another, first make sure the system is completely patched and that your chipset, graphics, storage, and network drivers are current. Also check for motherboard firmware updates. If Windows Update continues showing an error, run the built-in Windows Update troubleshooter and look at the update history for the specific failure code. Before changing BIOS or disk settings, make sure your important files are backed up.

It was an update from Windows 11 to the latest Windows 11 release. I already updated the firmware and drivers, but I’ll verify them again and check the update history for an error code.
