I installed Linux Mint alongside Windows and the dual-boot setup initially worked normally. After using Windows for a while, the screen suddenly went black and the computer started making an unusual noise. I panicked and removed Linux Mint. Was this related to the dual-boot installation, and what should I check to prevent it from happening again?

This probably wasn’t caused by Linux Mint. Since it happened while Windows was running, start by checking for Windows graphics driver updates and installing the latest driver from your GPU or computer manufacturer. Also check whether the computer was overheating or whether the unusual sound came from the speakers, fans, or hardware. Removing Mint was unlikely to fix the underlying problem.

A black screen accompanied by a noise is more likely to be a Windows graphics, power, overheating, or hardware issue than a bootloader problem. If it happens again, note whether the system responds to keyboard shortcuts, whether the fans keep spinning, and what kind of sound you hear. Those details can help distinguish a crashed display driver from a broader system failure.
