After a crash in Ghost Recon Wildlands caused some media-related problems, I updated my BIOS and chipset drivers as suggested. Since then, Windows Search has started behaving strangely. When I press the Windows key and type, or use Win+S, the search panel opens completely black with only the search bar visible. The results eventually appear, but only after several seconds or sometimes after opening the search again. I've already restarted SearchApp.exe, re-registered the Windows Search package, and reset the graphics driver with Win+Ctrl+Shift+B. Could the BIOS or chipset update have affected a graphics or cache component that Windows Search depends on?

Try running Disk Cleanup and include the DirectX Shader Cache. You can also clear the GPU shader cache for your NVIDIA or AMD graphics card, since corrupted temporary shader data can sometimes cause black or delayed UI rendering. A reputable temporary-file cleaning utility may help too, but review what it selects before deleting anything.
Will Disk Cleanup remove anything important, such as files in my Downloads folder or other files on the C: drive? Thanks for the suggestion.
