I've been using my PC build for a while now and it's been great overall, but I'm running into issues with my i9-9900 bottlenecking my performance. I want to upgrade my CPU, but that means I'll also need to get a new motherboard since my current z390 limits my options. I'm considering both Intel and AMD for the upgrade and could use some guidance on the following:
1. Recommendations for a CPU and motherboard combo. I've seen some decent deals on prebuilt systems that catch my eye.
2. Should I switch to DDR5 now, knowing I'll need to upgrade my RAM?
3. Are there any other factors I should consider, like upgrading my PSU or cooling fans? Any help would be appreciated!

What kind of PSU do you currently have? Switching to DDR5 was a game-changer for me, and I recently upgraded to a Ryzen 7 9800X3D paired with an X670 motherboard - it's a beast!
Honestly, considering everything, I’d go for that prebuilt. The RAM alone is worth quite a bit, making it a solid deal.
I'm also upgrading from the i9-9900K and z390, so I'm following this thread closely. The prices of DDR5 RAM are pretty steep right now, so I'm contemplating sticking with a DDR4 setup to save some cash.
I feel the same way. It seems like a waste to only do a halfway upgrade with DDR4. Did you check the Costco prebuilt link I shared earlier?

I'm using the EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G2, 1000W 80+ Gold. The prebuilt system from Costco looks like a convenient option right now since upgrading my CPU will require a bunch of other changes too.
