I'm in a bit of a pickle with our company's email setup. We have critical financial data stored in an old version of Outlook from 2010. I recently tried to transfer my license to a newer version, but I discovered I couldn't do it and ended up purchasing a new license instead. After creating a .pvst file as a backup, I found that when I tried to transfer my messages, the folders from the old Outlook just didn't appear in the new version. One of those folders contains really important financial info. Is there any way to retrieve that folder in the new Outlook, or should I just reinstall the old version and import the .pvst file? Also, am I being unreasonable for thinking that keeping this kind of sensitive data in a 2010 version of Outlook is a bad practice?

Honestly, you’re right to be concerned. Keeping sensitive data in an outdated email client is risky. It might not be uncommon, but it’s definitely poor practice. If you’re going to talk to management, let them know this is a business continuity issue that needs addressing. They might even prefer reverting to the old Outlook since the new version isn't going over well.

I had a chat with management about this. They actually seem okay with sticking to the old Outlook since they don't like the newer one anyway. It feels like they might just want to stick to the old ways indefinitely.
