I'm thinking about using the Epic Asset Manager, but I noticed that it's marked as unverified on Flathub. I'm not really sure what this means or if it's safe to proceed. Can anyone clarify how safe unverified Flatpaks are and what potential risks I should consider?

When it comes to unverified Flatpaks, the safety really depends on the specific app and who maintains it. A verified app typically means it's endorsed by the developer, but that doesn’t automatically mean it's secure or that the developer is trustworthy. An unverified app could still be from a reputable source; you just have to do a little extra research to know what you're dealing with.

Generally, unverified means the app was packaged by a third party, not necessarily the original developer. For the Epic Asset Manager, I believe it was submitted by the creator themselves but they didn’t go through the verification process. Flathub does have a moderation team that checks apps and their updates, so it’s usually pretty safe. Just use good judgment as you would with any other software source.

That's reassuring to hear! I’m always careful, but knowing there's some vetting involved makes me feel better about it.
