I'm looking to build a gaming rig with a solid CPU and GPU combo for around $1500. I already have a 1000W PSU, a 1440p monitor with a 180Hz refresh rate, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM. My main focus will be on GPU-intensive games, but I also play Marvel Rivals, which is fairly balanced between CPU and GPU usage. I'm thinking of getting the 9800X3D paired with the 5080. Does that sound like a good choice?

The combination of the 9800X3D and 5080 is definitely one for high performance! You just want to make sure you’re not overspending if you’re looking for good value, especially if a slightly lower combo can still hit those framerates you want.
If your $1500 budget is just for the CPU and GPU, then the 9800X3D and 5080 are a solid choice! But if that budget is for the entire build, you might want to consider going for a 7800X3D with a 5070 Ti or a 9070 XT. You could save about $400-500 while still getting excellent performance for your 1440p monitor. You might lose about 10-15% in performance, but you’ll definitely get better value for your money.
Are you sure about the 9070 XT? I thought it was more on par with the 5080. Just trying to wrap my head around the performance tiers.

Yeah, I'm thinking I might go with the 7800X3D and 5070 as well to save a bit. Any thoughts?
