Best CPU and Motherboard for 5070 Ti?

Asked By TechWhiz12 On

I just picked up a 5070 Ti and I'm aiming for optimal performance while gaming at 1440p with 170Hz refresh rate. Currently, I have an Intel Core i5-10400F paired with a Z590 UD AC motherboard. Do I need to upgrade either my CPU or motherboard? I'm considering the Ryzen 5 9600X as a potential upgrade; would that be sufficient for my setup?

If you’re looking for at least a 7600X or 9600X, they’re great performers. For a bit more power, consider the 7800X3D or 9800X3D if your budget allows. You'll really want something strong to match your 170Hz gaming needs!

There are plenty of good AM5 options out there. The 7600X or 9600X will be your budget-friendly picks. If you're looking for high-end, any X3D CPU is also going to deliver! For motherboards, I recommend checking out the MSI B850 Gaming Plus Wifi or the MSI PRO B850-P Wifi; both are great value for the performance. Avoid the Wifi 6E models though!

Great advice! I used the B850 Gaming Plus and it’s been fantastic.
