I'm curious about the potential of AI. While I know there are many questions that AI can't answer because it mainly relies on existing information, could there be questions for an ideal, limitless AI that would be extremely difficult for humans to answer? I'm thinking about questions that wouldn't involve ethics or morals. Could such an AI, with all its data, come up with new conclusions or insights that we, as humans, have missed?

Absolutely! For example, there's an AI that figured out how to differentiate between male and female irises, improving diagnostics. What's fascinating is that scientists are still trying to understand the method it used, which shows that AI can indeed make discoveries that humans find complex.

Not really. Even if AI could make discoveries, how would we verify them? If an AI generated results that humans can't check or interpret, we wouldn't know if they're accurate or just errors in processing.

I think you might underestimate AI's capabilities. AI has already made significant discoveries in various scientific domains, and there are methods in place for testing and verifying those findings. It’s about recognizing how these systems can process information differently from humans.

Sure, AI can create new ideas even without generating entirely original concepts. A large portion of innovations are hybrids, where AI combines insights from one field and applies them to another. This ability to connect and see patterns that we might overlook can lead to new scientific advancements.

AI is definitely a broad field, and tools like GPT are just one type within it. If you look up "new discoveries made by AI" online, you'll find examples of how AIs have contributed to scientific breakthroughs. Just keep in mind, the specifics can get technical, so follow-up research might be needed to grasp AI's role fully.
