I'm tackling some challenges on Coderbyte for a potential job, but I've been wondering—how can they stop candidates from simply using their phones or AI tools to cheat? What measures do you think Coderbyte has in place to ensure fair play during the coding assessments?

Honestly, I don't think they can effectively monitor it. Even traditional plagiarism checkers struggle with coding solutions since a lot of problems can only be solved in a few practical ways. Plus, similar variable names are common when following coding standards, so it’s hard to determine if someone really cheated or just mimicked common practices.
At the end of the day, your code submission isn’t the only aspect of the interview. The interviewers will discuss it with you afterwards, and if you can’t explain it, you’re definitely going to be in trouble.
True, they can't stop AI completely, but if you show up to work unable to perform your duties, you'll probably get let go soon enough.
Honestly, if a company is overly reliant on Coderbyte challenges, that's a red flag. It might mean they don't have qualified coders on staff or that their HR is underestimating candidates.
But then, what’s the point of landing a job if you’re cheating? Eventually, they’re going to find out you aren’t actually skilled in the necessary areas.
