I recently got a laptop from a friend who said if I could fix it, it's mine. After doing a fresh install of Windows, I found out it still boots with the school's login screen, asking for a school email. Is there a way to completely remove this blockage and install a normal operating system?

You could try installing Linux on it to wipe everything out and then reinstall Windows, but keep in mind that reinstalling Windows might reconnect it to Autopilot again. So, it's a bit of a gamble! If you do go this route, be prepared for the possibility of running into the same issue down the line.
Unfortunately, you can't just bypass the login. The laptop is linked to the school's system via something called Autopilot, so you'll need to reach out to the school to have them remove it from their records. Just a heads up, when contacting them, they might drop a bombshell and tell you that the laptop was reported stolen, so tread carefully!
