Hey everyone,

I'm curious if there's a way to prevent users from copying and pasting files or folders from a locally synced version of SharePoint to external devices. I'm not totally sure about this, but I thought I'd ask here for some insights. Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

Absolutely, a DLP solution can help with that! Purview, in particular, has settings that should let you manage these actions effectively.

Right? Purview really steps up for this kind of stuff!

You might also want to look into Information Rights Management (IRM). It can block users from printing, copying, or sharing files and documents from libraries.

I checked out IRM, but it seems like it only works in the browser and not for files synced locally. Thanks for the tip though!

Just a heads up, an E5 license is needed for IRM.

Another option is to block external storage on your devices. That could help prevent any data leaks.
