I'm looking to upgrade from my old AM4 motherboard, which has been pretty unreliable with its bad expansion and weak VRMs. I want to know if I can just take my boot M.2 drive and two SATA drives, plug them into a new AM4 motherboard, and have everything work smoothly. Will my Windows installation carry over without needing a fresh start? I'd prefer to avoid the hassle of transferring files and reinstalling software if possible since I rely on this computer for a lot of my work.

Are you thinking about using cloning software? There are many options available for cloning NVMe, SSDs, and HDDs. Just keep in mind you might run into driver issues, but updating them should solve most problems. Some cloning tools are brand-specific; for instance, Samsung has a great tool if you're using their drives.
You should be fine swapping the drives as long as they aren't encrypted. Plug them in, and they should work just like before.
It should generally work but be ready for Windows to act a bit up due to the new hardware. You might have to sign into your Microsoft account to transfer your Windows key. Worst case, you might need a new key. Just remember to update your drivers to prevent any conflicts with your old setup.
You'll need to re-register Windows after the motherboard swap, but that's pretty much it. It's not too bad!
