Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my PSU from 850W to a 1000W, and I bought the exact same model, just the 1000W version of my MSI MPG A1000G. My question is, can I just switch out the PSU itself and keep using the old cables, or do I need to change those out too? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

It's usually recommended to use the cables that come with your new PSU, even if it's the same model. While it might work, it's always safer to swap the cables too in case there are differences in pinouts for different wattages. You don't want to risk damaging your components!
I think it’s a bad idea to not change the cables, even if they’re from the same model. Risks of hardware failure are too high! Better to just do the swap right the first time.
Just change the cables! There are no guarantees that the old cables will match the new PSU. I'd hate to see someone fry their hardware because they wanted to save a little time.
I'd avoid it! Different wattages can have different pin configurations, and you definitely don’t want to accidentally send 12V to the wrong pin. It’s just not worth the risk!
Big no to reusing old cables! Even if they look identical, manufacturers sometimes change the internal wiring even for the same model name. I'd recommend checking a pinout diagram to be sure, but honestly, changing the cables is the safest bet.
Yeah, I've seen folks mess up builds because they reused cables. Changing them out is the smarter move.
Exactly! There have been instances where mismatched cables led to serious issues, so better safe than sorry.
