Hey everyone! My neighborhood recently switched off the 2G network, and I found out that my trusty old 10-year-old smart TV doesn't support 5G Wi-Fi. I'm trying to avoid buying a new TV if possible. Do you think using a Fire Stick or Chromecast would allow me to get Netflix back on my TV? I've considered range extenders, but I doubt they'd help in this situation since I can't reconnect to 2G anymore. My Asus router is great, but it seems I'm stuck with these internet changes. Also, I can't run an Ethernet cable because it's too far, and my TV doesn't support it. Thanks for your help!

Just a heads up, only your WiFi setup can disable the 2.4GHz band. If you're managing your Asus router, log in to check the settings, make sure you’re on the right band, and use the correct password for connection.
To be honest, the best solution is to check if the 2.4GHz band on your router is turned off. That’s usually what people refer to when they mention losing 2G. If the 2.4GHz is indeed turned on, a Fire Stick or Chromecast would definitely let you stream Netflix on your TV. Just make sure your router settings are correct!
Agreed! I’ve never seen a router that doesn’t support 2.4GHz, so it'd be strange if yours was disabled!
If the 2.4GHz band is off, you’d want to enable it to get any streaming device working. If that’s not an option, consider getting a WiFi range extender. They can pick up the 5GHz signal and rebroadcast it in both bands, so your old TV has a chance to connect. Plus, they’re usually easy to set up!
