Can I Use a PC Fan to Cool My PlayStation in a TV Cabinet?

Hey everyone! I have my PlayStation tucked away in my TV cabinet, and it seems to overheat pretty quickly, resulting in some annoying coil whine. There's a tiny hole for cables and ventilation, but I'm thinking about placing a PC fan right in front of that hole to keep the air flowing. I'd plug the fan into the PlayStation's USB port so it powers on and off with the console. Do you think this setup will work? Here's the fan I'm considering: Noctua fan and the connection cable for USB.

That sounds like a solid idea! If you position the fan to push air into the cabinet, it should help keep the PlayStation cool. I’ve done something similar with a modified Alienware setup and it worked great for me!

You might want to consider a cheaper USB fan option, though. You can find plenty that are budget-friendly, but they might be louder. Your Noctua choice should provide silent operation which is a big plus!

Exactly! While cheaper fans are out there, they can be quite noisy. If you’re going for a quieter setup, the Noctua is a good call. Plus, $20 is reasonable for quality!

Just give it a shot! Plugging it into the USB should be enough to power it up, but make sure it doesn’t require a special chip or anything. I think it'll work!

Yeah, I agree! Most USB fans only need power, so as long as it fits, you should be good to go.
