Hey everyone! I recently upgraded to an MSI B850 motherboard that has two 8-pin slots for CPU power. However, my power supply unit (PSU) only came with one 8-pin CC-7710 cable, unless I happened to misplace another one. My aunt advised me not to use power cables that didn't come with my PSU, but I'd prefer not to spend money on a new power supply. So, is she right about this, or can I safely buy another EPS P8 cable and use it? Thanks for your help! 🙂

It's risky to use any cables not specifically designed for your power supply; things could get dangerous. If you’re not planning on overclocking, one EPS 8-pin is usually enough for your needs. By the way, what Ryzen CPU are you using?
An 8-pin EPS connector can deliver up to 300W, which is usually sufficient for your CPU. The second connector is really only necessary for major overclocking or load balancing. Even if you were running something like a Ryzen 9 9950X, you wouldn't need that second cable hooked up. Your aunt has a point—it's best to avoid using cables that didn’t come with your PSU since different manufacturers might have different pin configurations. You can get an additional 8-pin EPS cable, but just ensure that it matches your PSU brand.
