I'm gearing up to upgrade my PC and could use some advice on picking the right CPU. I've been an Intel user my whole life, currently running a 13700k, but I'm seriously considering making the switch to AMD for the first time. I'm leaning towards the 9950X3D since it's top-rated and I want something that feels like an upgrade. But I've heard talks about a new 9950X3D2 coming soon, should I wait for that? Also, I've seen some concerns about CCD performance issues—are those still a headache? Would it make sense to look at the older 9800X3D or even stick with Intel's new line-up? My primary use is for gaming at 1440p, recording and editing videos, and possibly getting back into using Unreal Engine or Blender.

If you ask me, going with AM5 is the way to go. Intel is always switching things up every few years, so making the move to AMD could save you some hassle in the long run.
The CCD issue isn't really a big deal anymore; updates and fixes have taken care of it for most users. It might be wise to hold off for a month or so to see the reviews on the 9950X3D2. There’s been a lot of buzz about it recently, and it should be worth checking out.
Absolutely! Waiting will help you make a more informed decision.
Moving from a 13700K to a 9800X3D might not give you a huge boost in performance, especially at 1440p where the GPU is usually the bottleneck. You might be looking at only a 5% increase for a pretty hefty price tag. If your current CPU is being flaky, though, the upgrade could bring you peace of mind. Personally, I think going for the 9950X3D is a solid choice, and if you can wait for the 9950X3D2, even better!
Yes, I agree! The 9950X3D could give you a nice uplift in performance if your current CPU isn't running well.
Also, keep in mind that some games benefit a lot from the X3D's v-cache, especially in demanding titles.
As someone who switched to a 9950X3D last year, I can vouch for it being awesome! Definitely consider waiting for the X3D2 if you want the latest tech; either way, you won’t be disappointed.
I think it's still hard to predict pricing for the newer models, but if you want something solid now without waiting, the 9950X3D is still a top performer!
Yeah, I've seen the 9800X3D priced around $420-$430 lately, so you'd probably be better off going for the 9950X3D if you're looking for performance.
The 9950X3D2 is just a few weeks away! I'd wait for the reviews since it sounds tempting, and be sure to grab an x870e motherboard for the best future-proofing for your build.
Thanks for that tip! I definitely want to ensure my motherboard will support newer tech down the line.
Welcome to the AMD side! Once you dive in, you might find yourself loving the experience.

Gotcha! I was worried about that CCD issue too, but if it's mostly resolved, that's great news. Waiting to see the new reviews seems like a smart plan.
