Choosing Between AMD’s 9070 XT and 5070: Need Your Thoughts

Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a new graphics card since my old 1060 is starting to show its age. I've been focusing on AMD this time around because I want to steer clear of Nvidia. I recently checked out the 9070 XT from watching some GamersNexus reviews, and it seems like a solid choice. There are a couple available at MSRP where I live, like the Sapphire Pulse and the XFX Swift for around 629€. However, I noticed the 5070s are selling for a bit less, at around 559-579€, which is tempting. I'm torn on whether the roughly 50-70€ price difference between the two is justified considering the performance and efficiency aren't drastically different. If anyone has experience with either card, I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks a lot!

If the 5070 fits your budget better, go for that one. At the end of the day, both AMD and Nvidia are just companies looking to make money. Choose the card that gives you the best performance for your dollar, regardless of the brand!

Just a heads up, the 5070 really isn’t much more than a 5060 performance-wise. Prices are tough right now, and while the 5070 is close to MSRP, the 9070 tends to be priced higher. But if you're looking for the best option at MSRP, it might be the 5070 for now.

Yeah, it’s a bit sad! But you're right about the limited choices.

I'd definitely recommend going for the 9070 XT! I switched from an RTX 3070 to the 9070 XT myself and it’s made a huge difference in my gaming experience, especially at 1440p. Plus, the improvements in AMD's ray tracing and the new FSR 4 tech are really impressive, especially if you're not into CAD or 3D stuff. The 9070 also offers 16 GB of VRAM, which is great for future-proofing your system. Check out this video around the 19-minute mark for more info on why I made the switch!

Thanks for the detailed comment! I'll check the video and I agree, having 16GB feels like a safer bet for the long haul.
