I found a fantastic deal on a used 3080 Ti and I'm excited to build my PC around it! I'm trying to figure out the best components to pair with it. Would the Ryzen 7 7700X or 9700X be the better CPU for gaming at 1440p, considering I'm not ready to opt for an x3d chip? Alternatively, could I use the Ryzen 5 7600X to save some cash, or would that create a bottleneck? Also, should I choose a B850 or B650 motherboard for this setup? Lastly, what wattage should my PSU be—750W or 850W?

The differences in performance between the Ryzen 7600X/9600X and the 7700X/9700X are pretty minimal for gaming. I recommend going for the cheaper CPU. As for motherboards, either B650 or B850 will work, just keep in mind you might need a BIOS update for the B650 board. A 750W PSU should be sufficient for your setup!

All the CPUs you've mentioned should work well with the 3080 Ti, so don't stress too much! Just remember, the better CPU can improve your 1% lows in gaming. I’d suggest going with an 850W PSU, as it tends to be more efficient and will run cooler, which might help it last longer in the long run.

Definitely save some cash and go with the Ryzen 7600X. The performance difference is quite small. For the motherboard, pick whichever is cheaper between B650 and B850, they're almost identical in performance. With the 30 series GPU, I lean towards a higher wattage PSU—750W should work, but I'd feel safer with an 850W to manage power spikes better.
