Is there a possibility that OpenAI will allow companies to pay for ChatGPT to recommend their brands or services? For instance, if I'm looking for cereal options and I ask ChatGPT, could it prioritize Kellogg's just because they paid for that spot? With Google already allowing businesses to pay for top search placements, could we see a similar trend with AI like ChatGPT?

While I see your point, I believe they’re in a growth phase right now. Monetizing through ads could push users towards other LLMs, as there are plenty of free or cheaper alternatives out there.

Sadly, I think advertising is inevitable. Most tech tends to get ruined by capitalism, and I worry that AI will go down the same path. I really hope I’m wrong about this.
