I was just scrolling through Twitter and happened to hover over a tweet from Elon Musk, someone I don't even follow. Suddenly, my computer started lagging a bit, and I noticed that my storage dropped from 287 GB to 286 GB. I'm worried that I might have caught a virus or some spyware. Did my hovering actually cause this? Is it possible that Musk's tweet had something to do with it? For context, I have Windows 11 and my antivirus is up to date. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I hope I'm just overthinking it. By the way, I meant storage space when I said RAM—sorry for the mix-up!

It sounds like you might be overreacting a bit. You actually don't lose RAM when hovering over a tweet; RAM and storage are totally different things. The lag you experienced could just be a coincidence. If nothing seems off after that, you’re probably fine! Keep an eye on your computer, though, just to be safe.
Yeah, just make sure you have everything backed up just in case!
Honestly, it’s very unlikely that you got a virus just from hovering. Your computer might have been processing something else in the background. That spinning mouse icon is usually a normal sign of a temporary loading issue, not a virus. You’re probably in the clear!
I hope you’re right. It was just a weird coincidence then!
Exactly! Don't worry too much unless you notice any more strange behavior.

Thanks for clearing that up! I really freaked out for a moment. I’ll keep monitoring it.
