I'm looking to retire my old computer and build a new one! The goal is to create an all-purpose machine that I can use for heavy tasks like scientific data processing, photo editing in Adobe, and basic film editing. I also plan to use it for gaming and VR (including the PSVR2 on PC). I've already got a monitor and keyboard sorted out. I used PCPartPicker for my parts list, and it says everything's compatible, but I'm hoping to get some feedback from you all. Here are my main concerns: 1. Are there any potential bottlenecks in my setup? 2. Do you think I've picked any overpriced or unnecessary components? 3. I'm considering a custom water-cooled setup in the future; does my current build seem flexible enough for that? I'd love to hear your thoughts on any upgrades or downgrades you might suggest. Thanks in advance for your help!

You've got a solid build, but I think you can save some cash. Here are a few tips: 1. Your RAM's a bit too fast for the AMD CPU. Anything over 6000 MT/s causes issues—aim for DDR5-6000 CL30. 2. Unless you really need that X870E chipset feature, a more affordable B850 motherboard could do the trick. 3. For your non-gaming tasks, unless they're super high-demand, a PCIe 4.0 SSD will be plenty fast. 4. You could find cheaper RTX 5080 cards that still perform great!
Great suggestions! Just a heads up though, while the Phantom Spirit 120 cooler is top-notch, it gets pretty loud when pushed hard. I use it with my 7800x3d, and it ramps up beyond 60%, which can be annoying during gaming. You might want to consider the Arctic Liquid Freezer Pro III 360 instead—it cools really well and runs quieter, which could be a game changer for you.
