Do I Need to Wipe My SSD When Upgrading to a New Motherboard?

I'm planning to replace my potentially bricked motherboard with a new one, along with my CPU (which will be the same model as my old one). Do I need to wipe my SSD or reinstall Windows and the drivers to get everything working smoothly? I'd really prefer not to have to do a complete reinstall if I can help it.

You probably won't need to wipe the SSD, but you'll definitely have to download the new drivers specific to your new motherboard. Just keep in mind that you might need to uninstall the old drivers from the previous motherboard to avoid conflicts later on!

That's a good point! I always forget about clearing those old drivers out.

It's generally safer to reinstall Windows when you switch motherboards. That said, many people have successfully just swapped the parts and it still works fine. There's a chance you might run into driver issues, so it can be hit or miss. Just give it a go and see if it boots up!
