Documents on USB Drives Open as Read-Only After LibreOffice Update

I'm using Linux Mint, and I recently updated LibreOffice. Now, all the documents on my external USB drives are opening as read-only and I can't access them properly. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any suggestions on how to fix this would be really appreciated.

First off, what file system is your USB stick using? If it's NTFS, it could be causing issues with Linux. You might want to check if it's formatted in FAT32 since that's usually better for compatibility with Linux. Let me know if that's the case!

Thanks for the tip! The file properties show it's FAT32.

Have you tried opening or creating documents that are saved directly on your hard drive? If those work fine, copying files from your USB drive to a folder on your Mint home directory could help. Sometimes that fixes issues with accessing files directly from external drives.

How did you update LibreOffice? Did you do it through the Update Manager or download it from the website? Sometimes the method can lead to unexpected issues.

I used the Update Manager for the update.
