I just bought a new iPad Air from the Apple Education store, but I didn't get AppleCare+ at the time of purchase because they only offer a two-year plan directly. I later added the AppleCare+ subscription through the iPad while setting it up, but I accidentally restored from my old iPad's backup instead of my iPhone's. So, I decided to erase all content and start fresh. However, when I went to erase it, it mentioned that my AppleCare+ plan would be "safely removed." I'm worried that this means I'll lose my AppleCare+ subscription when I erase it. Can someone confirm if I'll still have my AppleCare+ after erasing? Also, is there a way to ensure I'm using my iPhone's backup instead of the old iPad's?

Your AppleCare+ is actually tied to your Apple ID and the iPad's serial number. So, erasing it won't cancel the subscription. Once you set it up again and log in, the AppleCare+ should reappear in your account. It's designed to be transferable even if you replace your device.
So the message on the Erase screen is misleading then? It sounds like it just temporarily disconnects it from the device.
