Fixing Missing Sound in Windows After Dual Booting with Linux

Hey everyone! I'm hoping to get some help with an issue I'm having after setting up a dual boot system with Linux Mint and Windows 10. Whenever I boot into Windows 10 without fully powering down my PC, I lose all sound. Windows detects my speakers and headphones just fine, and it even shows that audio is playing, but there's no sound output at all. I've come across advice saying to just restart my PC, but I'm looking for a more convenient solution. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to resolve this annoying sound issue? Thanks in advance!

You might want to try disabling 'fast startup' in your BIOS or firmware settings. Sometimes it keeps the sound drivers in a weird state due to how it manages power. Just restart your PC and go into the BIOS setup during boot to find that option.

I checked and 'fast startup' was already turned off, so that didn't help. One thing that worked for me was to unplug and then replug my audio devices after switching to Windows. It's a bit of a hassle, but it seems to reset the audio ports and get sound working again.
