I'm currently running Exchange 2019 CU14 and considering an upgrade to Exchange SE. We plan to set up a new server in 2025 and want to add Exchange SE to our existing environment, but we want to ensure a smooth transition as there are other services depending on Exchange. Has anyone gone through this upgrade already? I know Exchange SE has only been out for a few days, but I'd appreciate hearing about any experiences or issues you might have encountered. Thanks in advance!

So far, Exchange SE is basically Exchange 2019 with a new label. The differences are minor, mainly concerning licensing and update cycles. When CU1 drops, keep in mind that you won't be able to coexist with Exchange 2016 or 2019 anymore. It’s probably best to just go for an in-place upgrade since you’ll need to make the switch to SE anyway when CU1 arrives. The risk is low since both versions are quite similar.
Honestly, I'd trust Exchange SE more than Server 2025 at this point. It just feels more stable, even with the recent changes.
