Help! Can’t Install Any Operating System on My PC

I have an older PC that suddenly stopped booting Windows and just jumps straight to the BIOS. I recently decided to get it back up and running, so I bought a new SSD. I've been trying to install Linux using a bootable USB, but I keep running into various issues. I even tried installing Ubuntu and multiple versions of Windows, using different USB sticks, but nothing seems to work. I'm not very tech-savvy, but I want to understand the problem instead of paying for repairs. What could be causing this issue?

Totally get your frustration! Have you been able to boot from the USB to start the installation process at all? If yes, but it fails during installation, it could be related to partition issues or the SSD not being recognized properly. You might want to try disabling Secure Boot in BIOS if you haven’t yet. There’s a chance your USB flash drive isn’t properly set up as bootable, so it might be worth flashing it again with a different tool. If it's too technical, there are plenty of guides out there that simplify the process. Keep pushing through!

Sounds like you might need to check a few things before you can get that OS installed. When you try booting from the USB stick, what exactly happens? If it just can’t recognize the bootable device at all, it might be an issue with your BIOS settings. Try checking the boot order to make sure the USB is set to the highest priority. Sometimes if the old HDD is still connected, the system might try to boot from it first. Also, if your SSD is NVME, ensure that your motherboard supports booting from NVME drives since older models might not.
