Help Choosing a GPU to Pair with Ryzen 5800XT

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU now that I've got a Ryzen 5800XT. I recently switched from a 3700X to stay on the AM4 platform a bit longer, especially with prices going up. Here's what I'm working with: 32GB of 3200MHz RAM, an MSI Gaming Trio 2070 Super, MSI MPG Gaming Edge X570 WiFi motherboard, a Corsair 750W power supply, an NZXT H510i Elite case, and a Cooler Master Hyper 212 cooler.

I primarily game on titles like No Man's Sky and enjoy playing indie games and VR experiences, particularly VR Chat. I also use Oculus Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop and plan to grab a Steam Frame when it comes out. I'm a bit lost on which GPU to choose for better performance; I was considering the RX 9070 XT but heard there might be VR issues with AMD cards. I also looked at the 5060 Ti with 16GB RAM, but folks mentioned I might struggle with performance due to the PCIe 4.0 slot. Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks!

Yeah, the 9070 XT is currently a fantastic deal. I built a small ITX system recently with a 9070 XT and saw it perform just slightly better than my 5070 Ti in a benchmark test—like 1-3% better, and it cost $150 less! Just something to keep in mind when deciding.

I’m helping a friend build a system with a 5800 XT, and I chose the 9070 XT for its performance. It’s a great match to avoid bottlenecking, especially if you’re playing at higher resolutions like 3440x1440. I can't speak on the VR side of things, but the pricing on the 9070 XT seems to give better value than the 5060 Ti.

From what I’ve read, the VR issues with the 9070 XT mainly come from the Meta app when you're wired. If you're using Virtual Desktop, it should work fine for you. Also, I'm curious about your CPU temps since the Hyper 212 cooler might struggle with the heat output of the 5800 XT under load.
