I'm having a tough time with my old AMILO Pi 1505 laptop. I want to install Debian (the 32-bit version 12.11.0), but I'm stuck at the boot process. When I select the USB drive in the boot menu, I get an 'Operating system not found' error instead of booting from it. I've tried using multiple USB sticks and formatted them in several ways. Initially, I used FAT32 with MBR through BalenaEtcher, then tried Rufus and even formatted it to GPT before going back to MBR. I've checked BIOS settings, but it doesn't have many options to tweak, so I can't see anything unusual there. The USB shows up when I select the boot partition, but pressing enter just takes me back to Windows. Can anyone help me figure this out?

How old is your laptop? The AMILO Pi 1505 came out around 2007. If you're writing the Linux ISO directly to the USB with tools like BalenaEtcher, any prior formatting shouldn't matter since the image will overwrite everything. Just to be clear, can you boot from the USB at all, or does it not work?
Yep, it's from 2007. When I try to boot from the USB, it just gives me a black screen with a blinking cursor then goes straight back to Windows. If I set the BIOS to boot from the USB only, it still says 'Operating system not found'. I'm kind of stuck.
