Hey everyone, I've recently decided to dive into Linux and I've managed to get POP_OS running smoothly in a virtual machine. However, I'm having a tough time booting from a USB flash drive with either Linux Mint or POP_OS. When I start the boot process, I see the splash screen where I can 'try or install' the OS, but shortly after that, my screen goes completely black. This happens after I select the OS from the GRUB menu or let the timer count down.
I've already tried a bunch of things: adding 'nomodeset', removing 'quiet splash', turning off secure boot in my ASUS BIOS, and making sure 'Fast Startup' was disabled in Windows 10. I even tried disabling the 'Fast Boot' option in my BIOS and switched USB ports to see if that would help, but nothing seems to work. It's frustrating, especially since the virtual machine setup went so well. I've got an AMD GPU and CPU, in case that matters. Any advice would really be appreciated!

It sounds like a frustrating situation! One thing you could try is to regenerate the USB using Ventoy. Sometimes the way the USB is set up can lead to issues. If you've already tried various formats and partition styles, consider just going back to a basic single OS flash drive instead of using Ventoy.

I've tried that a few times myself with both MBR and GPT partition styles, and even reformatted it multiple times. If this doesn't work, I might just ditch Ventoy altogether and go back to a single installation USB.
