Help! Just Got a BSOD After Installing Overwatch 2—What Could Be Wrong?

Hey everyone! I recently built a new PC and everything has been running smoothly. I could play any game I wanted, including running benchmarks like 3DMark, Cinebench r24, and stress tests with memtest86 and prime95. However, today I installed Overwatch 2 and while I was in the menus, my PC suddenly encountered a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). This was surprising since I'd never had issues with games before, and all my stress tests passed without a hitch. Since the BSOD, I haven't reopened Overwatch, but my other games are running just fine. I'm trying to figure out what could have caused this.

At the time of the BSOD, I was running OBS, Discord, Valorant, and Overwatch. One thing I noticed in the Event Viewer is that whenever I launch Valorant, it kills the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) with a message saying it encountered a non-recoverable error, preventing TPM services from operating. I thought that might be relevant. I've also attached a link to the DMP file for further analysis. Thanks for any insights you can offer!

Don't stress too much over the BSOD! It's not uncommon, especially with new installations like Overwatch 2. In my experience, Valorant doesn't usually crash systems, but it's notable that your TPM error popped up. For me, issues only surfaced when running multiple programs simultaneously and heavy games like Overwatch. Just keep monitoring your system. If you continue facing problems, try running a clean boot—this can help isolate any conflicting software and figure out what's causing the crashes. But, as you said, it could just be an isolated incident.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep an eye on it and might try the clean boot if it happens again.

To get to the root of the BSOD issue, you should check for any dump files. These files are important crash logs that can provide clues. If you can boot into Windows normally or even in Safe Mode, navigate to C:WindowsMinidump and see if there are any dump files there. If you find some, zip the folder and upload it to a file-sharing site like Mediafire or Catbox, as Reddit often blocks certain hosts. Having multiple dump files would be ideal. If you only have one or none at all, you can follow this guide to configure your system to create Small Memory Dumps in the future. This process can help shed light on what caused the BSOD!
