I'm dealing with an old PC that's constantly lagging, and it's getting frustrating. I have a budget of 550 euros/dollars for a new build, but I'm wondering if I should just upgrade my current setup instead. I can buy used parts from local markets, but I need advice on what components to get and which ones to avoid. Any suggestions?

I think your freezing issues could be from certain parts malfunctioning. I once had similar problems until I upgraded my RAM. It’s possible your setup just isn't handling the stress well anymore, especially if it bluescreens, like yours did.
Check out this great build I found on PCPartPicker for around 550 euros: You could go with an AMD Ryzen 5 5500, a decent motherboard, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and a solid 1TB SSD. Since you mentioned you already have a PSU, you might save some money there too! Here’s a part list if you want to take a look.
Building a PC can be a fun project! But let us know what you want to achieve with it—are you gaming at 1440p, doing music production, or something else? This will help narrow down what parts you need.
With an i5 9400f and RTX 2060, you're already in a decent spot for gaming at 1080p. If you upgrade your CPU and motherboard, that should give you a nice performance boost without needing a new GPU. It really depends on the games you're playing; if they're not too demanding, you might be fine keeping your GPU.
Thanks for the list! But I already have the PSU, so I won't need to buy that.
