Help! My CPU is Stuck to the Motherboard—What Should I Do?

I'm building my first PC and ran into a major issue when I powered it on: the CPU LED lit up. After checking connections and ram slots, I decided to remove the cooler to reseat the CPU, but now it's stuck to the motherboard. It feels like it's glued down—it can move slightly but won't come off! Is it broken or just stuck? I've looked for similar issues online but mostly find problems related to coolers or latches, not the CPU itself being stuck in the socket. Here's an image to help visualize the situation: https://imgur.com/a/QEhqwOy.

You likely have the CPU upside down. Make sure the notches on it align properly with the socket. It’s a common mistake for first-timers, but don’t worry—you can pry it out, and hopefully, the damage is minimal! Good luck on your next build!

It sounds like you may have forced the CPU in incorrectly. There are small cutouts that should align with the socket. I recommend gently prying a corner with a small screwdriver, but be super careful! If the pins are damaged, it could cause serious issues. After getting it out, check the pins and make sure everything is oriented correctly before reinstalling.

Did you remember to lift the little latch on the socket that holds the CPU in place? If not, you might just be pulling on it without releasing it. Try checking that first before forcing anything.

I haven't touched the latch yet; I wanted to see if it was supposed to be glued or something first.
