Hi everyone! About two weeks ago, I was unfortunate enough to have my iPhone 16 and AirPods stolen. I've since got a temporary iPhone to access my accounts, and managed to recover most of my data, but I have a significant loss – my camera roll wasn't backed up to iCloud. I understand that it's my fault, but it really hurts knowing that I've lost around 10 years of photos and videos. Apple informed me that my account is still logged into the stolen device. Is there any way, any hope, to access or recover those memories from the stolen phone? Apple's security is usually great, but it's so frustrating knowing my photos are just sitting there, unreachable. I'd really appreciate any advice – I'm desperate to recover those memories!

Honestly, unless the person who stole your phone decides to turn on iCloud backup for your photos, it’s unlikely you'll retrieve those. If you have any other cloud backup services, check those too. It’s a harsh reality, but this is why backing up important things is crucial.
Unfortunately, there's really no way to recover your photos if you didn't have a backup. It's a tough lesson, but it's essential to back up your data before something like this happens. Maybe share your experience to help others remember to make backups!
You won’t be able to remotely trigger a backup if the phone is still logged into your iCloud. But if Find My iPhone is enabled, you might be able to track down the device itself or at least report it to prevent further use.
