Help! My Laptop Screen Is Flickering—What Could Be Wrong?

I'm having a frustrating issue with my laptop screen. It started flickering with a series of lines, and while it gets better sometimes, it keeps coming back. Interestingly, only half of the screen seems to be affected, which makes it tough to read text on that side. I don't have much tech knowledge, so I'm hoping to understand what's likely causing this before I take it in for repairs. Any ideas?

This issue could be due to a failing ribbon cable. It's actually one of the cheaper fixes, so it might be worth trying to replace that first if you go in for repairs.

It sounds like your laptop's backlight might be going out. You could look into getting a new screen if you're okay with that. If you're feeling brave enough to open it up, you might check if the connection is loose, but I understand if that's not your thing!

Try connecting your laptop to an external monitor to see if the problem persists. This way you can confirm if the issue is with the screen itself or the graphics card. If it's the screen, it might be best to get a professional to take a look.
