Help! My LG Monitor Can’t Read the HDMI Signal—What Should I Do?

I recently bought an LG monitor (model: 22MK430H-B) from a friend who was moving. When I got it home, I plugged it into my PC, and while it recognizes that the HDMI cable is connected (the monitor starts searching for a signal), it ultimately displays an error saying it can't read the signal. I've tried several troubleshooting steps:

- Used a different PC to test the monitor but didn't have any luck.
- Tried a different HDMI cable that I know works.
- Connected it to both the GPU and CPU outputs, but nothing changed.
- There's only one HDMI input option on the monitor, and pressing the input button doesn't seem to help.
- I've tried turning both the monitor and the PC off and on multiple times without success.

Interestingly, the monitor does work with my Nintendo Switch using the same HDMI cable, which confuses me further. I'm willing to attempt some DIY fixes if necessary, but I'm unsure where to begin. Any advice or easier fixes would be greatly appreciated!

If your monitor is showing an input option but still can't read the signal from your PC, double-check your resolution settings on the PC. Sometimes, the resolution might be set too high for the monitor to handle. You can also try connecting with DisplayPort if available, as that might give you a better chance at establishing a connection!

It sounds like you might have a weird HDMI issue. Have you checked that HDMI port on the monitor? Sometimes there can be a bent pin or something blocking the connection. Since it works with your Switch, it seems unlikely, but trying another HDMI cable could still be worth it just to rule it out. You might also want to consider using a different type of connection, like VGA or DisplayPort if your PC has those options.

Yeah, I did check for bent pins and it looks fine. I tried the cable with my other devices and it works perfectly. Might just need to consider different connections at this point!

Since you mentioned the monitor works with your Switch, but not your PCs, there might be a compatibility issue with the output settings on your PC. Check to see if there's an option for the display output settings that might help. Sometimes screens prefer certain refresh rates or resolutions.

That's a good point! I hadn’t thought about the settings being potentially mismatched. I’ll take a look at those right away.
