I just had a mishap where I spilled a mason jar full of water all over my table, and unfortunately, it got on my MacBook too. After the initial shock, I flipped it over and turned it off ASAP, though it booted up a couple of times because I accidentally hit some keys while trying to get the water to drip out. The spill also affected my charger and its cables, so those are drying in some towels. I left the MacBook upside down, closed, with a towel in between overnight. Now I'm about to set up a fan to blow on it while it's upside down but open. Am I in serious trouble? Should I expect to pay for repairs, or is there a chance it might be okay? Would it be better to take it to the Apple Store today?

I think you might be in the clear! Just give it some time without turning it on. If you let it dry out for a few days, you should be okay. Water damage can be tricky, but since it’s just water, that’s less risky than other liquids. Keep it upside down with a fan on it as you've been doing!
Be grateful it was only water, not something more corrosive. Just let it dry out completely for a few days, and you’ll have a better idea of if it survived. You’re doing the right things by keeping it dry and having a fan on it.
Grateful for my own mistake? LOL! I’ve had worse spills before, but I guess I'll wait and see.
It might be cooked, but there’s still hope. You won’t know until it’s all dried out. Water is one of the less harmful things you could spill on it. Keep it ventilated like you're doing, and maybe even wait a couple of days before trying to turn it back on. With some luck, it might be fine!
Thanks for the thoughtful reply! Fingers crossed!
Thank you! I really hope it works out.
