Help! My Windows Update Gave Me a Black Screen – What Should I Do?

Hey everyone! I was running Windows 11 22H2 and got a prompt saying my version had reached end of life, so I decided to update. After the update, I got a blue screen of death. A restart fixed that temporarily, but it indicated the update failed. I tried the update again, and ended up with a black screen this time. After another restart, I thought everything was okay, but now I'm stuck with a persistent black screen and restarting isn't helping anymore.

Here's what I've tried so far:
- Booting in recovery mode through the HP BIOS but no luck.
- I attempted opening the task manager and using the Windows + R command, but neither worked.
- I even decided to switch to Linux and tried using elementary OS from a flash drive, but that resulted in a black screen too.
- I also have a flash drive with Ubuntu, but it just gave me another black screen.
- I managed to boot into Ubuntu in safe graphics mode but there was no response to my inputs.
- Lastly, I remembered I have another hard drive with Pop!_OS installed, but after waiting for 20 minutes, I got stuck on a gray screen.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do next? I might have a backup from around March and another USB drive with Ubuntu Server. I really don't know where to go from here!

I would recommend restoring from your backup if that’s an option. It sounds like the Windows update may have messed up your system pretty badly. Also, what's your CPU? That can help narrow things down a bit more if needed!

I believe the CPU is a Ryzen 4600G. How do I restore from the backup though? It’s not showing up in the boot manager, and I can't access the Windows recovery options.
