Help with Keyboard Shortcuts on Linux Mint?

I recently installed Linux Mint and I'm really enjoying the performance compared to my previous Windows setup. However, I'm having a tough time getting my laptop's keyboard shortcuts, especially for volume and brightness, to work correctly. I've checked the driver manager, and it says no additional drivers are needed. Also, my trackpad gestures aren't functioning well either. I'm using Linux Mint 22.1 XFCE on an Asus E510 with 4GB RAM and an Intel N4020. I'd appreciate any tips to resolve these issues!

Make sure your keyboard layout is correct. If the system doesn't recognize your volume or brightness keys, it might be using the wrong layout. Double-check that setting. Also, my experience with XFCE is different, but there's often a volume icon in the system tray that can help configure these shortcuts too.

Thanks for the tip! I checked, and the keyboard layout seems fine. But I’ll take a look at that volume icon for any additional settings. Appreciate it!

Have you tried going into the keyboard settings and checking the shortcuts section? Sometimes you need to manually set them up there. It's worth a shot!

I did check that, but when I pressed the keys, they didn’t register. Instead, the cursor indicator blinked really fast. Feels like the system knows I'm pressing something, but it's not picking it up as a shortcut.
