I'm having trouble with our Xerox AltaLink C8070 printer here at the office. It suddenly stopped being able to verify the domain name, and I'm not sure why. We previously had it set up for scan-to-email, and it was working perfectly until this morning. I've checked the settings, but nothing seems to have changed. Our networking guy is unavailable, so I'm reaching out for some help.
I've read online that this could be a DNS issue, but I'm not experienced with DNS servers or firewalls. The printer has a static IP address and is using the standard SMTP settings for Gmail (smtp.gmail.com). Changing the printer's IP address temporarily resolves the issue but only for a few minutes before the verification fails again. The DNS server appears to work fine as I'm able to ping the addresses, and we're running on Windows Server 2012 R2, which is pretty old. Any advice would be appreciated!

You should consider creating an A record on your DNS server. For naming, I usually use the printer’s serial number. Make sure the printer’s DNS settings are pointing to your DNS server. Once that’s set up, it should help get the verification status back to normal. I've set up about 24 of these models, and this approach typically resolves the issue!
What email service are you using for your gateway? If you're using G Suite, make sure you've got the proper settings in place for that. Sometimes it can get tricky with configurations, especially for scan-to-email functionalities.
It sounds like you might want to power cycle your printer if it has a FieryXJ Print server. It's a small box on the back, and simply turning it off and back on could help. I worked in a similar situation, and sometimes the Fiery module can go awry even when the printer itself seems to work fine with copying. You should check if your specific model has that option!
No, it doesn't have the FieryXJ. It's working fine on the network for printing; the issue is just with the scan-to-email function.

We use G Suite for all our emails, specifically Gmail. I'm not sure what else I might need to check.
