I've recently upgraded to a 6950XT from a 3060, and I'm noticing my GPU temperatures soar up to 90-95°C while playing Cyberpunk, even after capping the FPS from 110 down to 80. While the performance seems fine, these high temps are concerning. I've got a 1050W PSU and I haven't encountered any issues while gaming, but I want to make sure I'm not damaging my hardware. Any tips on managing these temperatures?

It sounds like your GPU could really use a good cleaning and possibly repasting. You might want to check if those temperatures are from the GPU's core or the hotspot. If it's just the hotspot, it might not be as serious. Instead of just capping the FPS, download MSI Afterburner or use the Radeon software to lower your power limit. That can really help bring those temps down, though it might impact performance a bit.
Just got a 6900XT recently, and the previous owner really took care of it. They even swapped the thermal pads. I found that using PTM7950 thermal paste helped lower the junction temperature to around 82°C, and the airflow in my case is top-notch. You should consider undervolting too—RDNA2 cards handle it well. Expecting over 95°C junction temp isn’t uncommon, but it's worth trying to manage that heat!
Replacing old thermal paste with something like PTM7950 can make a big difference. Also, check on the thermal pads for VRM and VRAM—good contact is essential. Thin pads might not allow heat to dissipate properly, and overly thick ones can cause issues, too. A little inspection there could help with those temperatures.
If you’re checking temps via software, both Radeon and MSI Afterburner should give you the right readings. Lowering your power limit helped for me when I had the same issue; I think they really handle undervolting well. Just keep an eye on performance while you make those adjustments!
Those temps are quite high, definitely alarming! Make sure your case has good airflow—what's your fan setup looking like? And how much are you utilizing your GPU while playing? Sometimes the fan speeds just need adjusting. I've never let my GPUs get anywhere near that hot, and I’ve mined with them too! Don't forget to clean your case and GPU if you haven't recently.
