How can I access an encrypted SSD after switching to Linux?

I recently bought a PC and decided to switch from Windows to Linux. Now, I'm unable to access my PNY 1TB SATA SSD because it's asking for a passcode that I never set. The person I bought the PC from doesn't have any idea what the passcode is either. Is there a way to access this drive from my computer, or would resetting the PC from the BIOS help?

If you don’t need anything on it, I’d recommend deleting the partitions in Linux and then creating a new one. It’s a good way to free up space.

It sounds like you might be running into an issue with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). When switching OS or making hardware changes, the TPM might flag it as a security issue and lock the drive. You’d usually need a 48-digit recovery key saved in your Microsoft account to unlock it. Hope you have access to that!

If you’re okay with losing the data on that drive, just go ahead and use the disk utility that comes with your Linux distro to delete the partitions and start fresh.
