How Can I Change My Downloads Folder Location Back to C Drive?

I recently got my dad's old computer, but I've noticed that the Downloads folder is set to a USB drive (E:) he was using before he gave it to me. Now, every time I try to access it, I get a message saying, 'E:Downloads is not available.' I want to switch the Downloads folder back to default on the C drive, like it was originally. Currently, when I download files, they go into a Downloads folder under Documents, which is pretty inconvenient. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks in advance!

If you're comfortable using the registry editor, you can change the folder location through this path: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerShell Folders. Just be careful when altering anything in the registry!

I went to that location but I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to change there? Any advice on that?

To fix the Downloads folder, try right-clicking on the Downloads folder, then go to Properties and find the Location tab. You can reset it back to the default location there. It's pretty straightforward!

Thank you!! I pressed the button to reset the folder to its default state and it’s all good now 🙂
