Hey everyone! I'm trying to hide my location from a family member for a couple of days to keep a surprise under wraps. She checks my location pretty often since we share it through iMessage. I've read that you can switch the device that's sharing your location, but I can't seem to figure it out.
I've got a few devices: my current phone, an old iPhone 5s running iOS 12.5, a MacBook on iOS 15.5, and an Apple Watch (which I don't think can be used for location sharing since it has no cellular). I managed to set the old iPhone as my default device, but when I tested it, my live location still updated as I walked away from home, indicating that my current phone is still the one sharing my location. Plus, I can't even download the Find My app on that old iPhone—just the outdated Find My iPhone app.
I also can't find a way to make my MacBook the device for sharing my location in Find My. It shows which device is sharing my location but doesn't allow me to change it. I have only a couple of days to sort this out, and if I stop sharing or turn off my location, she'll definitely notice. Any advice would be appreciated!

Why not try putting your phone on Airplane mode? That might work for a short time.
You can't share your location from a Mac; it has to be from another iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
I've seen plenty of people saying they share their location from their Mac. How are they managing that? I shared mine from my old iPhone, but my real-time location showed where I was, not where the old iPhone was. I'm stuck on fixing this!
You might just have to stop sharing your location for a few days; sometimes technology glitches out, and that might be the easiest solution right now.
Yeah, I think that might end up being the only way.
That won't really help since I need to keep it off for a few days. I'm actually flying to her place and need to fake my location for about a day and a half.
