How can I fix my PC games crashing on launch?

I've recently been experiencing issues with my PC games crashing on launch. I bought this PC from a marketplace in 2023, and at first, everything worked perfectly. However, over time, more games have started to fail during launch. Right now, Fortnite and CODBO6 won't launch at all, and Rainbow 6 Siege only sometimes launches successfully, but it plays fine once it does. I've not swapped or cleaned any parts aggressively; it seems like a slow degradation issue. My specs are: Intel I-7 13th gen, Nvidia 2070 Super GPU, Asus Prime Z690-P D4 mobo, 32 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, and a 1000W power supply. Also, my BIOS is from 2022 and I haven't updated it because I'm worried about the risks. I'm currently on Windows 10. I've tried reinstalling Nvidia drivers, enabling XMP, and running memory tests, all of which indicated the RAM is fine. This problem coincided with Fortnite Chapter 5 updates, and I want to avoid costly repairs if possible. Any suggestions?

Definitely get that BIOS updated! It's a big step. If the BIOS update doesn’t help, a clean install of Windows 11 may be worth the risk. If you see those errors like "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" afterward, then your CPU may need serious looking into.

You should look into whether your 13th gen CPU is suffering from degradation issues. I’ve seen a lot of people mention that running without the latest BIOS can lead to problems. You might want to disable XMP temporarily and update your BIOS. Just a heads-up, your CPU might be reaching the end of its life if degradation is the cause, so be prepared for that possibility!

I’ve heard that 13th gen Intel CPUs run more smoothly on Windows 11. It could help, but I think updating the BIOS is crucial. There were updates released to help prevent these CPUs from burning out. If updating doesn't fix it, you might need to consider a fresh install of Windows 11.
