Hey everyone! I recently built my PC, and while I'm generally happy with it, I'm having some overheating issues with my Samsung 9100 PRO NVMe SSD. Here are my specs:
- Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair X870E Hero
- CPU: Ryzen 9 9950X3D
- GPU: RTX 5080 MSI GAMING TRIO OC
- NVMe SSD: Samsung 9100 PRO with an Arctic M2 Pro heatsink
- Case: Corsair 7000D
- Fans: Corsair iCue (3 intake in the front, 1 exhaust in the back)
- AIO Cooler: Arctic LF3 420 PRO ARGB
The SSD is mounted in slot M2_1 under the CPU. The idle temps are around 57°C, which rises to over 64°C when gaming. I've tried swapping out the stock heatsink since it blocked my AIO pump, but I'm wondering if there's a more effective solution. I ordered a small PWM fan from Noctua to mount on the GPU's backplate to help cool it down a bit. But I'm looking for more ideas that won't require removing the heatsink or making significant changes to my motherboard. Has anyone experienced something similar and found a fix?

Taking a step back from all the monitoring software and just using your PC how you intended it for a while might work wonders. Just enjoy your games and see if the issue lessens over time!
If you're really concerned about temps, consider investing in a more robust cooling solution. Something like an M.2 SSD water block could drastically improve temperatures, but I get that it might be a hassle to install given the tubes involved.
I've looked into that, but it seems complicated! I may stick to simpler fixes for now.
I agree with NerdyGamer99, 64°C isn’t dangerous. But if it bothers you, a small fan could definitely help. You might try repositioning it or adding some additional airflow if that’s feasible without major changes.
Definitely going to explore that option. I just want to get it running cooler!
I get your frustration, but honestly, 64°C is still well within the operational limits for your SSD. The 9100 PRO usually starts throttling in the mid-80s, so it looks like you're good. Sometimes it's just about getting comfortable with the temps your build reaches—monitor your performance and enjoy your gaming!
Yeah, I’ve seen others report lower temperatures, and it had me worried. Thanks for easing my mind!

That’s a really good idea! I’ll give it a shot.
