Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out a way to watch movies on my non-smart TV from my PC. The TV is quite a distance away, so running a long HDMI cable across the room isn't an option for me. I've looked into wireless HDMI solutions, but they're pretty pricey. I'm considering getting a cheap TV stick like AnyCast to mirror my screen instead. I've heard mixed reviews about latency, but I'm hoping it could suffice for just watching movies and series. Any advice or alternative suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If you want something simple, using a TV stick could work, but you might also consider using Plex with a streaming device plugged into your TV for a more robust setup. If you’re okay with some initial setup, Plex can organize and stream your media efficiently!
Before you invest in anything, check if you can cast your PC screen by pressing + P. Also, ridiculously long HDMI cables do exist if you want to avoid the extra tech hassle!
Miracast dongles are another option if you want to go wireless. Just keep in mind that performance can vary depending on the dongle.
I’ve had my share of issues with Miracast on cheap Android devices before, so just be cautious if you go that route!
Honestly, latency isn’t a big deal for streaming movies. If it helps, if you can snag a used Chromecast, that might be the easiest way to cast your entire screen directly from your browser.
What about using a wireless mouse and keyboard with your PC? If you can set up a regular HDMI connection, you could make it work without needing to mirror your screen. Just a thought!

Unfortunately, I found out that my PC doesn’t have that casting option. I’m still considering the HDMI option, but I worry that even with raceways, it’ll look messy.
