I have an old iPad that belonged to my parents, and it holds a lot of precious memories in the camera roll. Unfortunately, it broke a few years ago, and now we're stuck trying to access the old Apple ID account. The problem is, neither of my parents can recall the email or password associated with it. We're not even sure if the account still exists. The only glimmer of hope is that their phone numbers have remained the same all these years, and they might have been linked to the iPad. Does anyone have advice on how we could recover this lost data? Who should we contact to begin the recovery process? I'd really appreciate any help!

Honestly, given that this account is 15 years old and hasn't been accessed in ages, it's quite possible it has been locked or even deleted by now. This is something that really should have been addressed much earlier. Have you looked into any specific ways to unlock it, just in case there’s still a chance?
If two-factor authentication is enabled, you might be able to sign in using a linked phone number. Check out this support article for more options on recovery: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102627. If you can determine the email address, you could use iforgot.apple.com to attempt account recovery, but keep in mind that with a 15-year-old account, it might not even have two-factor authentication, as that feature started later. Unfortunately, if you can’t recover the email, there’s likely no one at Apple who can assist further.
